First home game of the season! Boys were pumped. Week three and we still hadn't seen a Hockomock matchup. Whitman-Hanson was a relatively unknown opponent heading into the game but at least we were in Eastern Mass football.
Yikes! W-H scored on the opening kick-off. Then they scored on the second play of their next drive as well. The Warriors definitely needed to wake up and play Foxboro football. The team settled down after that and were certainly the better team on the field. Unfortunately the only thing that counts in the win-loss column is the score. Foxboro ended up losing by 1 point. The Warriors fought back the entire game. They outrushed the Panthers and had more first downs. After missing the PAT on Foxboro's last touchdown, final score was Whitman-Hanson 21, Foxboro 20.
The silver lining in this cloud is that the Blue & Gold did not give up after a horrendous start. They got their head in the game and continued to play hard and with heart. That was not always true in years past and is something to look forward to.
